The MFFL
Who we are
The Midlands Fitness Football League (MFFL) is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation that exists to bring men together through football, fitness, and friendship.
We’re here to provide structured, competitive football for players across the Midlands while keeping the focus on health, inclusion, and support. Every decision we make — from league formats to community events — is about creating opportunities for people to get active, connect, and enjoy the game.
While we are not associated with MAN v FAT, the MFFL was created in response to a gap left when their competitive 11-a-side structure was withdrawn in favour of 7-a-side leagues. That change left many teams without a full-sized competitive outlet. The MFFL fills that space, giving those teams a place to continue playing — while also being fully open to other 11-a-side teams who have never been part of MAN v FAT at all.
Our Structure
Our Leagues
We provide three leagues across the length and breadth of the Midlands providing a level for everyone to participate in.
- East Championship and West Championship feature 12-game seasons, with each team playing home and away.
- A dedicated Development League supports new and growing clubs, ensuring fair travel distances and structured progression.
- Every team plays a minimum of 12 fixtures, creating consistency across the league.
Our Cups
Alongside league football, the MFFL runs two major knockout competitions, with a combined Cup Finals Day planned for May.
- The MFFL Cup, involving all clubs, giving every side the chance to compete for silverware.
- The MFFL Shield, introduced for teams that exit early, guaranteeing competitive fixtures throughout the season.
Both cups are played in blocks across the year, adding excitement and opportunity for every team.
Our league is built around fairness, fitness and fun.
- All players are registered digitally, with eligibility checks to ensure the league remains focused on fitness and health.
- Development and First Teams are linked, with clear rules for progression and crossover to encourage growth.
- Matchdays are 90 minutes with rolling subs, strict rules on cancellations, and a zero tolerance policy on abuse or fat-shaming.
- Results, goalscorers and squad info are submitted digitally to keep the league transparent and up to date.
